Observations and predictions
Water levels, wind, water temperature and predicted tides come from NOAA CO-OPS. Each observation is labeled with its source time. The website refreshes while visible, and responses may be cached for up to five minutes.
Observed water levels and predicted tide heights are shown relative to the station’s Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW) datum. This is not a measurement of water depth. Wind is measured at the station, not across the whole harbor.
Freshness and gaps
A water-level or wind observation older than 30 minutes is marked stale. Water temperature is marked stale after two hours. These are Wakewing display thresholds. Missing data remains missing; we do not fill gaps with invented observations.
Map
Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors. Map tiles are supplied by the OpenStreetMap Foundation and are available on a best-effort basis. Maps are not nautical charts. Interface mapping uses Leaflet.
Vessels
The AIS vessel layer uses a server connection to AISStream when the account is activated. The map reports its current connection state. Arrows show received vessel positions and their reported direction; diamonds indicate that direction is unavailable. Round symbols are NOAA stations. Positions older than two minutes are muted and positions older than ten minutes are removed. Reception is incomplete and vessel absence does not establish an empty harbor.
